Bengaluru: The Bengaluru North police investigating the suspicious death of an apparel merchant, were shocked by the confession made by his 15-year-old-daughter.
The charred body of Jai Kumar Jain, a 41-year-old resident of Rajajinagar, was found in the bathroom attached to his bedroom on Sunday morning.
Police had arrested the businessman’s 15-year-old daughter and her 18-year-old boyfriend Praveen in connection with the murder.
During the questioning, the girl confessed that she and her boyfriend murdered her father by stabbing him 25 times with a knife and later set his body on fire.
According to police sources, Jain’s daughter, who is studying in class IX, was in love with Praveen, a first-year B.Com student.
Police added that Jain was opposed to the relationship and was very strict with his daughter, not allowing her to roam freely or use mobiles.
“On Saturday night, Jain and his daughter were alone at home. She mixed sleeping tablets in his milk and gave it to him and once he fell asleep, Praveen arrived at the house and the two stabbed him to death,” the sources said.
As the girl is a juvenile, she has been sent to the remand home.
