Mangaluru: In a noteworthy political move, 34 BJP workers from the Mangaluru South Assembly constituency officially joined the Congress party in a ceremony held at the District Congress Office, Mallikatta.
The event was spearheaded by MLC Ivan D’Souza, with prominent Congress leaders in attendance. Many of the new members, who are auto-rickshaw drivers by profession, were warmly welcomed into the party by Congress district president Harish Kumar. They were presented with the party’s shawl and flag as a gesture of their induction.
The ceremony saw the participation of key leaders such as former ministers Ramanath Rai and Abhaychandra Jain, along with former MLA J.R. Lobo. These leaders expressed their encouragement and urged the new members to contribute actively to bolstering the party’s influence in the region.
This development is seen as a boost for the Congress in Mangaluru South, as it aims to strengthen its grassroots connections and expand its political reach in the constituency.
