A BMTC bus rear-ended an autorickshaw, crushing it under another bus and instantly killing an 80-year-old Ayurvedic doctor and the auto driver at Seetha Circle, Banashankari III Stage on Friday.
The victims were identified as Vishnu Rao Bapat, a resident of Banashankari, and Anil Kumar K, an autorickshaw driver from KP Agrahara. The tragic collision unfolded around 11:30 AM at Hosakerehalli Cross when a BMTC bus slowed down for a turning car. Kumar’s auto, following the bus, also came to a halt, but another BMTC bus rammed into it, crushing the three-wheeler between two buses.
Traffic on Hosakerehalli Main Road was disrupted for 30 minutes. The bus driver, Prasanna, was arrested, and Bapat’s granddaughter, Smriti Rajesh, filed a complaint under BNS Section 106 (causing death by negligence). The bodies were sent for autopsy at Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences.
