IUML retains Kerala’s Manjeswaram with a huge margin

Kasargod: Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) candidate M.C.Kamrudeen, on Thursday won the Manjeswaram Assembly constituency by 7,923 votes. He defeated BJP’s Raveesh Thantri Kuntar.

Like in the past elections, the BJP stood second and the CPI-M ended in third place.

In 2016, IUML’s Abdul Razack had defeated his nearest BJP rival K.Surendran by a slender margin of 89 votes. Razack passed away last year.

The saffron party was expected to do well in Vattiyoorkavu, Konni and Manjeswar seats, but it has been unable to make inroads into the UDF and LDF vote-banks.
