
Armed Robbery in Bidar: Security Guard Killed, ₹93 Lakh Looted
Bidar, Karnataka: In a shocking incident near the deputy commissioner’s office on Thursday, two armed robbers on a motorbike shot dead a security guard of the State Bank of India (SBI) and seriously injured another. The masked assailants fled with ₹93 lakh in cash during the heist.
The deceased has been identified as Girish. The robbers attacked the guards as they were offloading cash from a van to deposit it in an ATM. They threw chilli powder into the eyes of the security personnel and opened fire before escaping with the cash.
District Police Superintendent Pradeep Gunti and senior officials rushed to the scene to assess the situation. District In-charge Minister Eshwar Khandre condemned the incident and directed police to take immediate action to apprehend the culprits. The minister also ordered an investigation into the apparent security lapses, emphasizing that proper safeguards should have been in place during the cash transfer.
Expressing his condolences over the tragic death, Khandre assured that steps would be taken to ensure such incidents are not repeated.
