Bengaluru: The Bengaluru police have arrested a rowdy sheeter for the murder of a 28-year-old techie, working in the Indian arm of the American IT major Accenture, here after a dramatic chase.
The arrested, Karthik attempted to flee on seeing the cops. He however, had to be shot in the leg when he tried to attack the cops chasing him.
The victim, Pranoy Mishra, 28, who hails from Odissa was stabbed multiple times early on Monday morning because his two-wheeler had scraped against another bike, which was being ridden by rowdies Karthik and Arun.
The rowdies demanded a sum of Rs 500 from Karthik who refused to pay and drove away. However the rowdies followed Pranoy, waylaid him and stabbed him multiple times. Someone who saw him bleed took him to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.
The suspects were traced through the footage of a CCTV camera on a cellular phone tower. Police are looking out for Arun who managed to escape from the scene
Preliminary investigations by the police showed it was a road rage that led to the attack.
