Bengaluru: Migrant labourers all over India have been languishing to return to their homes amidst the lockdown; many because they are unable to sustain themselves without a job, many more because they want to be with their families during the pandemic.
While around one lakh migrant labourers have already been sent back home in special trains by Karnataka, there are still many who are stranded and are awaiting a chance to return.
To help keep the migrants calm and relaxed while they wait for their chance to return, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Sunday, May 17, played a Hindi film for them, provided them with adequate food, and assured that they would get trains to return home soon.
Over 1,000 migrants, who were sheltered at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) (which is being used as a transit camp) on Sunday night, were the recipients of this kind gesture by the BBMP.
A video of the same was posted to Twitter and Facebook by BBMP Commissioner B H Anil Kumar IAS.

The move was received well by the netizens, some of whom even suggested that the migrant workers be shown scenes from Karnataka and be shown some Kannada cinema as well.
