Bengaluru: The High Court-appointed panel’s report that the Chamarajanagar district administration is to be blamed for the 24 deaths due to oxygen scarcity have clearly vindicated Mysuru Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri’s stance.

The report has given a clean chit to Mysuru DC Rohini Sindhuri.

On May 2nd, 24 Covid patients died in Chamarajanagar district. The Committee on Legal Services Authority headed by retired Justice AN Venugopalagowda investigated the incident. The committee recommends that the families of the deceased should be appropriately compensated. The report was tabled before a special bench of Chief Justice Abhay Srinivas Oka and Justice Arvind Kumar on Wednesday.

“It is the responsibility of the district administration and hospital authorities to supply oxygen to the hospital from the oxygen cylinder refueling plant in Mysore. If the hospital administration was careful, there would have been plenty of oxygen stored if the suppliers had timely replenished. Failure to do so has resulted in the loss of precious lives and the Chamarajanagar District Commissioner has failed in this regard. There is no evidence that Mysore District commissioner Rohini Sindhuri has blocked the transport of oxygen to Chamarajanagar, ” the report stated.
