Bengaluru: In a prestigious oath-taking ceremony held in the Glass House of Raj Bhavan in Bengaluru, 29 Ministers were sworn into Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s Cabinet at 2.15 pm. The oath-taking was administered in the presence of Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot. Chief Minster Basavaraj Bommai and other MLAs were present on the occasion.

Govind Karajol, Mudhol MLA, became the first Minister in the CM Cabinet to take the oath. During BSY’s tenure, he served as Deputy CM. Murugesh Nirani and B. C. Patil took the oath in the name of God and on farmers, respectively. While Shivaram Hebbar and Shashikala Jolle took the oath in the name of the people of their Constituency citizens.

The announcement of the new Cabinet came weeks after Bommai was sworn in as the Karnataka CM. Earlier this morning he held a press meet from Vidhana Soudha along with BJP State-in-charge Arun Sigh. He expressed that the ministers will be a group of experienced and fresh faces and the Cabinet will also include a woman.

Seven OBCs, three SCs, one ST, seven Vokkaligas, eight Linagayats, two Brahmins and one woman are part of the new cabinet. While Yediyurappa had three Deputy Chief Ministers, Bommai’s Cabinet will does not have any Deputy Chief Ministers.

Thus, in the current Cabinet including woman candidate Shashikala Jolle there are 10 candidates representing Lingayat community.

The 29 ministers include Anand Singh – Hosapete – Ballari, Araga Jnanedra – Thirthahalli – Shivamogga, B. C. Nagesh – Tipturu – Tumakuru,, B.C. Patil – Hirekerur, B. Sriramulu – Molakalmuru, Byrathi Basavaraj- K R Puruam – Bengaluru, C. C Patil – Nargund, Dr C. N. Ashwath Narayan – Malleswaram- Bengaluru, Dr K. Sudhakar – Chikkaballapur, Govind Karjol – Mudhol, Halappa Achar –Yelburga, J.C. Madhuswamy – Madhugiri – Tumakuru, K. C. Narayana Gowda – K R Pete, K.S Eshwarappa – Shivamogga, Kota Srinivas Poojari – MLC, M.T. B. Nagaraj – MLC, Munirathna – R R Nagar, Murugesh R Nirani – Bilagi –Bagalkot, Prabhu Chavan – Aurad, R. Ashok – Bengaluru – Padmanabha Nagaar, S.Angara – Sullia – Dakshina Kannada, S. Gopalaiah – Mahalakshmi Layout, S .T Somashekar – Yeshwanthpur – Bengaluru, Shankar Patil Munenakoppa – Navalgunda, Shashikala Jolle – Nippani – Belagavi, Shivaram Hebbar – Yellapur – Uttara Kannada, Sunil Kumar – Karkala – Udupi,  Umesh V Katti – Hukkeri and V. Somanna – Govindarajanagar – Bengaluru.

The oath-taking ceremony was vibrant as the supporters and family members of all the ministers inducted into the Cabinet cheered them on.
