Bengaluru: Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Suresh Kumar has taken important decisions with regard to the state education system.
Correcting his previous remarks on planning to stop distributing the second pair of uniforms to school-going children, he said, “In my statements given yesterday, I had not conveyed it in a right manner. Actually, we have decided to distribute the second pair of uniforms to the children and a meeting with the finance department has been carried out as well. By this year itself, we’ll distribute the second pair of uniforms.”
On the Centre’s decision of merging the Karnataka Secondary Education Board with the Karnataka Board of Pre-University Education, the minister has clarified that they will work independently.
He said, “Both the boards will function independently and will also conduct examinations separately.”
Speaking about teachers’ transfers, he said, “As the Election Commission of India had announced that the by-elections were to be held in the month of October, the electoral model code of conduct was implemented with immediate effect. Due to this, we had to keep the Teachers Transfer Council process on-hold. Now, the Supreme Court of India has issued a stay order on the by-polls and the EC has announced fresh dates for the by-polls in the month of December, so we have got clearance for the transfer process and it will be soon initiated.”
Meanwhile, Suresh Kumar has assured that he will solve all the issues related to teachers and has called for a meeting for this purpose on October 4.
