Bengaluru: Hours after the reports of rebel activities brewing within the BJP and the CM subsequently calling an emergency meet of the MLAs making rounds, the CM himself has clarified that he has not called for any such meeting.
Taking to twitter on Friday morning, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said: “I have noticed a few reports claiming that I have called for an emergency meeting of a few MLAs. This is far from being true. I have not called for any such meeting.”
The statement comes in after news of rebel activities intensifying within the BJP hit headlines.
It is said that rebel MLA Umesh Katti, Basanagauda Patil Yatnal and Raju Gowda held a dinner meeting with several BJP MLAs from the north Karnataka region demanding immediate cabinet expansion and resignation of BS Yediyurappa.
They are of the opinion that BSY must step down as the state government is being run by a ‘proxy team’.
Katti, who is aspiring to get a cabinet berth, also wants MP Seat through Rajya Sabha for his brother Ramesh Katti. Since BSY is not paying heed to his demands, Katti is leading the rebel activities, say sources.
