Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah warned of blood shed if Hindi is imposed on the country including Karnataka.
Speaking at an event in Mandya city, he stated that only a handful of states have Hindi as the mother tongue.
“Where is Hindi spoken as the mother tongue? In a majority of states, other languages are mother tongues. All languages are supreme,” he said.
He listed the state where Hindi imposition is opposed.
“Unity in diversity is our strength. The central government must preserve it,” he urged.
He also stated that Hindi is not a national language. “Who is saying Hindi as the national language,” he questioned.
He said that he will not allow any efforts to impose in the state.
Later speaking to the reporters, he made it clear that he has no ambition to form a separate party.
