Mangaluru: Vishwa Hindu Parishad Regional secretary, Sharan Pumpwell, has warned the district administration about not taking appropriate action to curb the illegal cattle trafficking that is going on. He said that the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal will start protesting on the streets until such illegal activities are completely stopped. He added the District administration would be held liable for any untoward incidents during the protests.Addressing the media yesterday, he said, ” the district administration and the police have turned a blind eye towards the illegal trafficking of cattle. Today cattle are being transported in passenger vehicles to the slaughterhouses in DK and Kudroli; There is a huge mafia behind this”.
He urged the district administration to form a special squad for this purpose. He emphasized the need for exemplary punishment for those who are caught indulging in this trade including those who were caught on October 4, 2020, transporting cows illegally. In that incident, six calves had fallen off from the vehicle in which they were being transported to the slaughterhouse in Kudroli in the city.
District Secretary of Bajrang Dal Shivanand Mendon, Bajrang Dal Regional Convenor Bhujanga Kulal, District Vice President Manohar Suvarna, Guruprasad Ullal, and Pradeep Pumpwell, among others, were present during the press meet.
