Bengaluru: Janata Dal (Secular) has decided against contesting in the upcoming Maski and Basava Kalyana assembly constituency by elections.
A decision in this regard was announced by JDS leader and former CM HD Kumaraswamy.
The was by election necessitated in Maski following resignation of incumbent MLA Pratap Gowda Maski, who joined the BJP as part of the ‘Operation Kamala’.
Meanwhile, Basava Kalyana MLC B Narayana Rao succumbed to Covid 19 recently. The election commission is yet to notify election date for these two constituencies.
“Both, the BJP and the Congress are capable to use money power in the by election. But we will not. As the results are evident, we will not contest the election,” explained Kumaraswamy in a meeting of party workers in Dasarahalli in the city.
He also hinted that party may back late Suresh Angadi’s family in Belagavi Lok Sabha by election as he was his good friend.
