dks covid 31082020Bengaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president D K Shivakumar was on Monday, August 31, discharged from the hospital after recovering from COVID-19.

Speaking about the development, the Suguna Hospital administration said, “Karnataka Congress president DK Shivakumar has been discharged from hospital after recovering from COVID-19.”

It can be recalled that the former state minister tested positive for COVID-19 on August 24, after which he was admitted to the Suguna Hospital in Bengaluru for treatment.

Confirming the news about the illness, the Congress leader had said in a tweet, “I had a fever and have tested positive for the coronavirus. I am doing well, but as a precaution have been hospitalised and am under the good care of doctors. With your wishes and blessings, I will soon be back. I appeal to all those who came in contact with me to be cautious.”

While in the hospital, he continued to speak out on various issues and in his most recent video, posted to Twitter on August 28, appealed to the Central and state governments to postpone the JEE and NEET exams.

Over the past two months, many politicians, including Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, Opposition Leader Siddaramaiah, state cabinet ministers B.R. Sriramulu, S.T. Somashekar, Anand Singh and C.T. Ravi, Lok Sabha members, MLAs and MLCs tested positive and recovered from the infection.
