Bengaluru: Jayanagar MLA Sowmya Reddy was trolled after an image of the MLA offering prayers to a photograph of Lord Ganesh went viral. Reddy was accompanied by her father and former minister Ramalinga Reddy.
What raged the trolls was that the photo frame of Lord Ganesha also had images of a mosque and Jesus on either sides.
The photo of the MLA left the netizens divided as some said that what the MLA did was incorrect, while many others came in support of the MLA.
A particular Twitter user, who shared the image questioned if the Reddy father-daughter duo needed such a celebration during the auspicious Navaratri days.
“Will the Muslims agree with this or disagree with this? The Maulvis will have to answer,” said the Twitter user.
This sparked a debate as some said that what the MLA did stands against the principles of Islam, while many said that the act of the MLA uphold secular principles.
After the entire episode, Sowmya Reddy Tweeted and said: “Thanks for all my right wing fans & wonderful trolls for engaging in this experiment! Love u all! Sarve Janah Sukhino Bhavantu Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam
