Bengaluru: Former chief minister Siddaramaiah has demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Karnataka to assess the damages caused due to the rains.

Tweeting about this, Siddaramaiah said that along with the PM, a central team must come to the state to assess the damages and the losses.

“Our leaders must press for the same during the meeting with the PM on Monday,” he demanded adding that they must also press for additional funds for flood/ rain relief.

“The 15th Finance Commission had earmarked Rs 5,495 cr for the state, but it was Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who snatched this away from the state. During the meeting, this injustice must be brought to the notice of the PM,” he tweeted.

Attacking Prime Minister Modi, Siddaramaiah said that the Rs one lakh package announced for agri sector by the PM is a part of the COVID relief package announced by him in May.

“The PM is presenting this as a separate package and misleading the farmers,” he said.
