Bengaluru: Under the Indo-Israel Agricultural Project (IIAP), Karnataka Chief Minister B.S Yediyurappa and Union Minister for Agriculture Narendra Singh Tomar launched three centres of excellence (COEs) in the State on Wednesday June 16 to advance Israeli innovations in the field of horticulture.

Speaking at the event, Yediyurappa said that there was a lot of opportunity for innovative technology in crop production and post-harvest management to boost horticulture productivity.

The COE is a high-tech, intensive agricultural farm that develops information, shows best practices, and trains farmers using Israeli new agro-technology customised to local conditions.

According to an official statement, COEs would be established at Kolar for mango, Bagalkot for pomegranate, and Dharwad for vegetables.
