Bank employee ends life on video call with wife in Bengaluru
A 38-year-old staffer at a private bank took his own life while speaking to his wife over a video call, police reported.
The tragic event took place in Nagegowdanapalya, near NICE Road in South Bengaluru, around 1 am on Friday. According to Thalaghattapura police, Vivek Samadarshi locked himself inside a room and initiated a video call with his wife, who was asleep in another room. During the call, he ended his life by hanging.
His wife, in shock, cried out for help. Hearing her screams, friends rushed to the spot, forced the door open, and immediately transported Samadarshi to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts to save him, doctors declared him dead around 10 pm that night.
Investigators have not recovered a suicide note so far. However, Samadarshi’s wife has alleged that workplace harassment pushed him to this extreme step. The police are currently probing her claims to determine the veracity of these allegations.
For now, authorities have registered an unnatural death case and are gathering more details to understand the circumstances leading to the incident.
Mental health concerns and workplace stress continue to be critical issues, prompting the need for stronger support systems.
