Belagavi: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa met the grieving family members of deceased Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi on Wednesday and said that all steps will be taken to build a memorial for the late minister.
Addressing the reporters later, at Sambra airport, BSY said that the memorial will come up at the place where Angadi’s last rites were performed, in New Delhi and that funds will be released for this purpose.
It may be recalled that Angadi had died due to COVID-19 on September 23 and his mortal remains were not brought to his native village in Belagavi. His last rites were all performed in Delhi, as per COVID guidelines.
The CM said that it is hard to believe that Angadi is no more. “His contributions to Karnataka are immense and unforgettable,” he said.
Suresh Angadi’s mother Somavva, wife Mangala, daughters Spoorthi and Shraddha met the CM, who was accompanied by Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai and Minister Jagadish Shettar, whose son is married to Angadi’s daughter.
