Belagavi: BJP leader Vijaya Sankeshwar, who has been selected for the Padma Shri award, requested Jains to join the Hindu religion.
Participating in a felicitation programme in Belagavi, he stated that Veerashaivas were part of the Hindu religion. Hence, Jains who follow similar rituals and religious rules very strictly should also consider joining the Hindu religion, he said. “It is my appeal,” Sankeshwar added.
Sankeshwar also informed that BY Raghavendra, son of CM BS Yediyurappa, was the future leader of Karnataka.
“He is a very popular leader. I wish he will grow as a great leader,” he said.
Sankeshwar also pointed out that a few pontiffs in the society were behaving like mentally-retarded people.
“A few are unhealthy. A few are lazy. We need to consider selecting qualified persons for the post of mutt pontiffs,” he said.
