Belagavi: Former minister, and senior Congress leader Prakash Hukkeri has stated that he is ready to contest in the upcoming Belagavi Lok Sabha constituency by-election from any party, including BJP.
“If the late minister Suresh Angadi’s family contests in the election, I will not seek a ticket from any party. If they are not planning to do so, then I am ready to contest from any party including the BJP,” he said.
It can be recalled that Belagavi Lok Sabha constituency has fallen vacant now following the sudden death of Suresh Angadi, an union minister. He succumbed to Covid-19.
Hukkeri’s son Ganesh Hukkeri is a MLA from Congress.
Prakash Hukkeri served Congress in various capacities, including minister in Siddaramaiah-led government.
His statement comes as a big surprise for the Congress, which is eyeing power in the state in 2023 election
