Ballari: Deputy Commissioner S S Nakul has restricted the entry of tourists to Hampi from tomorrow i.e, Sunday, March 15, in the wake of the spread of the deadly coronavirus (covid-19) in the state.
Addressing the media on Saturday, March 14, he said, “Section 144 has been clamped in Hampi from tomorrow until further notice. Only the residents of the district are allowed to enter the historical Hampi Virupaksha Temple. There is no restriction on puja in the temple. Tourists will not be allowed to enter any historic place and all the programmes (government and private) stands cancelled.”
Speaking about the coronavirus screening and treatment in the district, DC Nakul said, “We had collected samples from 10 people who had come to the district from France and Germany. Fortunately, all tested negative for covid-19. Similarly, 10 people of the district were suspected to be affected by the deadly virus and their blood samples were sent for testing. So far, we have received three reports and they are all negative. The rest of the reports are yet to arrive. Hence, there is no need to panic as precautionary measures are in place.”
