Bengaluru Court Grants Bail in Techie Suicide Case
A Bengaluru city civil and sessions court on Saturday approved bail for the wife, mother-in-law, and brother-in-law of tech professional Atul Subhash, who ended his life by suicide last month, citing alleged mistreatment by his wife and her family.
The accused, Nikita Singhania (wife of the deceased), Nisha Singhania (her mother), and Anurag Singhania (her brother), had submitted a joint request for bail on December 19. Nikita has also approached the Karnataka High Court, seeking to dismiss the abetment to suicide charges against her and her relatives.
On December 31, the high court instructed the sessions court to rule on the bail petition by January 4, despite the state prosecutor requesting until January 6 to file objections.
The trio was apprehended by Bengaluru police last month in separate locations across Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. This was in response to a complaint lodged by Atul Subhash’s brother at the Marathahalli police station.
The incident has sparked conversations about mental health, familial pressures, and the legal framework around harassment and abetment cases.
