Bengaluru Techie Detective’s Zoom Sting Unmasks Wife’s Secret Second Wedding
A Bengaluru software engineer turned amateur sleuth uncovered his spouse’s hidden second marriage, a revelation that clinched his four‑year divorce battle in Mangaluru family court.
Suspicions first arose when he spotted unexplained transfers between his wife and an ex-boyfriend, despite her insistence that the affair ended before their December 2018 wedding.
Determined to validate his doubts, he masqueraded as a recruiter during a staged Zoom interview. Under the guise of a job screening, she slipped up—confessing her “first marriage” had concluded and that she’d secretly wed again.
His investigation deepened via Right to Information requests, which unearthed marriage certificates, PAN records, travel itineraries, and a name‑change affidavit. All evidence pointed to a March 2023 nuptial, conducted while their marriage was still legally intact.
Both engineers, originally wed in Dakshina Kannada’s Bantwal taluk, had been living in KR Puram, Bengaluru, when he filed for divorce in 2021 under Section 13(1)(i‑a) of the Hindu Marriage Act, citing cruelty, mental torture, and infidelity.
In her defense, she accused him of domestic violence, dowry harassment, and forced abortion, demanding ₹3 crore in permanent alimony plus ₹60,000 monthly maintenance.
On April 23, the family court granted the divorce, dismissed her financial claims, and ordered the return of her gold jewelry. Unusually, the judge also awarded the husband ₹30,000 to cover litigation expenses.
This rare verdict marks a significant win for the husband, highlighting the lengths one might go to seek truth and justice.
