“Bengaluru: Three Killed, Two Kids Survive Crash Near Dabaspet”
Bengaluru: Tragedy struck a Malleswaram-based family early Thursday morning when their car met with a fatal accident on the NH-4 stretch between Nelamangala and Dabaspet, near the Lakkur bridge in Tumakuru district.
Gopal, 58, a real estate businessman, was driving his family to Sira for a naming ceremony. Accompanying him were his wife Shashikala, 55, daughter Deepika, 35, and two young grandchildren—Bhuvan, 3, and Aadhya, 1. As they neared the Lakkur bridge, the vehicle lost control where the broad six-lane highway abruptly narrows into two lanes.
In a tragic turn, the car crashed violently into the median divider. The impact was so severe that Gopal, Shashikala, and Deepika died on the spot. Bystanders managed to extract the three adults from the wreckage, but it was too late to save them.
Miraculously, the two children survived the crash with only minor injuries. They were immediately transported to a hospital in Bengaluru for treatment. According to Bengaluru district Superintendent of Police CK Baba, both children are on the path to recovery.
This heartbreaking incident is a stark reminder of the dangers posed by inconsistent highway design and the need for cautious driving, especially in areas known for abrupt changes in road width.
