Vijayapura: A fire that engulfed the house of a poor family, turned their hard-earned money into ashes. The money was kept for the wedding of their daughter here at Nalatwad, Muddebihal taluk.
Kemappa Lamani was living in a small house near Nagbenal Check post with the family where he had kept around Rs. 5 lakh for his daughter’s wedding, which he had earned by working as labour in Maharashtra. But the house that caught fire, took away the entire earning and left the family in aghast and shock.
Besides money, other household materials were also burnt and gutted in the fire. The family however escaped from the fire.
Later, the police and the officials of the Revenue Department visited the house and it was informed that cash worth Rs. 5 lakh, 50 gram gold, LIC policy and other valuables have been lost.
