Vijayapura: District In-charge Minister, Shashikala Jolle has said that efforts are being made to address the issue of the shortage of Remdesivir injections in the district.
Addressing presspersons after holding a review meeting with the officials here, she said that do not be under the impression that Remdesivir is the panacea for Covid and infected people will die without it.
“ Please do not have this notion in mind”, he said.
She informed that the district administration has sent an indent of 10,000 Remdesivir, however, so far 2376 have been received.
The remaining doses will come shortly, she claimed.
“ We are taking every step to ensure that we have adequate availability of this injection. But have in mind that not every Covid patient needs this injection. Doctors know very well which patient needs it. So have faith in the doctors”, Jolle said.
Expressing dismay that the new variant of Covid has become deadly that even people of a young age are losing lives, she said that the virus has been infecting in a far quicker manner than in the past.
Stating that the State government has imposed lockdown to prevent the spreading of Covid, she however admitted that it will definitely create some problems for people, mainly daily wagers.
“But we should also know that the decision has been taken to save the lives of people which is more important”, she asserted.
She informed me that during the lockdown relaxation has been given between 6:00 am and 10:00 am for people to buy essential commodities.
