Boy Severely Beaten by Ashram In-Charge in Raichur
Raichur: A boy studying at a government primary school in Raichur was brutally beaten by P. Venugopal, the in-charge of the nearby Ramakrishna Ashram, over a minor issue on Friday. The boy, hailing from Koppal, was residing in the ashram along with other underprivileged students.
The victim’s mother discovered the assault on Friday evening when she noticed injury marks on her son’s thighs, eyes, and other body parts. She immediately took him to Janata Hospital on Chandraband Road for preliminary treatment.
The mother alleged that local police officers initially refused to file a complaint against the ashram in-charge, instructing her to return on Saturday. However, the incident gained widespread attention on social media, prompting swift action from authorities. The district superintendent of police intervened, leading to the immediate arrest of P. Venugopal. The accused has since been taken into judicial custody.
This incident highlights the vulnerability of children in institutional care and raises concerns about the accountability of those in charge of such establishments.
