BSLA Football Tournament: A Triumph of Solidarity Despite Cyclone and Rain

Bangalore: The BSLA Football Tournament, held amidst challenging weather conditions caused by a cyclone and heavy rains, concluded successfully, demonstrating resilience and solidarity for a noble cause—supporting rape victims across India.

A Tournament with a Mission

Organised by the Bengaluru Sports Lovers Association (BSLA), the tournament aimed to raise awareness about women’s safety and empower underprivileged children. The event also highlighted BSLA’s ongoing campaign for stricter laws against rape through its Abhaya’s Rape-Free India movement.

BSLA Founders, including Payel and Abhishek, along with Mr. Kunjal Roy and Mr. Debmalya Bhattacharyya, have spearheaded such initiatives since 2016, establishing the organisation as a beacon of hope in Karnataka.

Teamwork and Gratitude

CEO Payel Sengupta thanked all stakeholders, including the 16 participating teams, referees, and young ground administrators, Akshay and Akash. She emphasized the importance of teamwork in overcoming the challenges posed by the weather, stating, “This tournament would not have been possible without everyone’s dedication.”

Highlights of the Event

• Chief Guest: Mrs. Esha Bhalla,  Mrs. India 2022 and Mrs. Bhubaneshwari, a renowned entrepreneur, praised the participants and signed the Abhaya Signature Campaign.
• Medical and Support Teams: Kauvery Hospital’s medical team and food supplier Mrs. Shukla Biswas ensured smooth proceedings, while Mr. Aditya of Unorthodox Sports Arena hosted the event.

The tournament concluded with spirited performances:

• Champion Team: Tenerife 2.0
• Runners-Up: Hawks United (dedicated their performance to injured captain Uday).
