‘Mahashay’ Dharampal Gulati, owner of spice brand MDH no more

New Delhi: ‘Mahashay’ Dharampal Gulati, the owner of the popular spice brand MDH passed away on Thursday, December 3 morning. He was 98.

As per reports, Gulati breathed his last at Mata Chanan Devi Hospital in Delhi after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was under treatment at the same hospital for the last few weeks.

Born in Sialkot, Pakistan in 1923, he and his family moved to India following partition.

Fondly called ‘dadaji’ and ‘Mahashayji’, he featured in most of the television advertisements of his brand.

The iconic brand had a humble beginning with a shop in Delhi’s Karol Bagh.
