Ai Startup Vahan.ai Revolutionizes Blue Collar Hiring In India

Vahan.ai, a Bengaluru-based startup founded by Madhav Krishna in 2016, is making waves in India’s gig economy by using AI to streamline hiring for blue-collar workers. Initially aimed at upskilling, Vahan pivoted in 2019 to focus on connecting job seekers with employers like Zomato, Swiggy, and Amazon. The platform has already placed over 500,000 workers in 480+ cities.

Backed by Y Combinator and Khosla Ventures, Vahan recently raised $10 million in Series B funding. Its AI recruiter simplifies the hiring process by conducting initial interviews over the phone, helping companies recruit 25,000 workers monthly. With OpenAI’s GPT-4o and natural language capabilities, Vahan aims to expand into manufacturing and warehousing, supporting multiple Indian languages and dialects.
