The beginning
Electrical Point, which has grown into being one of the most trusted names in Mangaluru City with a large number of satisfied and loyal customers has had a very simple and humble beginning. Proprietor Vinod Sequeira has put his heart and soul into shaping the firm. It is only the result of Sequeira’s dedication that Electrical Point could reach the position that it has reached today.
Deriving inspiration from his father Late S. J. Sequeira, who worked as an electrician in the State Oil Company in the Kingdom of Bahrain, young Vinod Sequeira wanted to venture into the electrical field. With Electrical Diploma from Karnataka Polytechnic, he started off as an electrical contractor in places like Mumbai and Mangaluru and understood the pulse of the people. He realised that decorative lights were the hot favourite of the people and this prompted him to start Electrical Point.
On November 27, 2000 he opened a 300 sq ft shop in Falnir catering to the needs of the people. Gradually, Electrical Point became one of the most trusted and sought after places for people looking for decorative lights and also electrical fittings. The patronage from people prompted Sequeira to move into a bigger showroom in Karangalpady in 2004. It was a spacious 1500 sq ft showroom and with the kind of support that the loyal customers were giving, the firm was bound to move out of this place into larger premises.
In a matter of one year, the Electrical Pointers moved into a 3000 sq ft showroom, but the growth of the firm did not stop here. It continued to grow by leaps and bounds and in May 2012, Sequeira inaugurated a sprawling 15,000 sqft ‘Electrical Point Complex’, own premises in the heart of the city, opposite C. V. Nayak Hall, just a few metres away from the Bunts Hostel Circle. While Sequeira is one of the very few proprietors in the City who can boast of having a four-storeyed building dedicated only for decorative lights and electrical fittings, the Electrical Point Complex is one of the largest electrical showroom in the entire Coastal Karnataka. Today, Electrical Point has customers not just from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Districts, but it has customers coming from Kodagu, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Davanagere, Hubballi and neighbouring states of Kerala and Goa and other places.
