Mangaluru: Fine Arts are helpful for the all-round development of students, opined University College Mangalore Principal Dr Anasuya Rai.
She addressed the gathering after inaugurating Fine Arts Selection Trials at Ravindra Kalabhavana of the college here on Tuesday, Fine Arts Association Coordinator of Dr Meenakshi M M, in her inaugural speech, opined that art shapes personality and it is complementary to academic development.
Student Union Deputy Director Dr. Latha N Pandit, Student Union President Prajan V. Shetty, secretary Tashwith M B, joint secretary Yashasvi K, Fine Arts secretary Pratheeksha P, joint secretary Sharanya P were present on the dais.
Political Science Department Lecturer Dr Ashalatha mastered the ceremony. Teaching and non-teaching faculty and students were present on the occasion.
Cultural Glory: Hundreds of students showcased their talent in a talent show held simultaneously at Ravindra Kalabhavana and Dr Shivaram Karantha Sabhabhavana. There was fierce competition in both the individual and group categories. Competitions were held in about 14 categories including Classical, Eastern, Folk, Dance-Singing, Yakshagana Bhagavathige, Western music etc. Several performances in the group dance and skit categories caught the attention of the audience.
