Mangaluru: After the 1st step of initiating the Urban Forest Development Programme by planting more than 200 saplings of flowering, fruit-bearing and medicinal plants at the land opposite to the Patrika Bhavana, near Urwa market,  KIOCL Limited, A Government of India Enterprise has taken its second initiative of contributing for a greener Mangaluru at the vacant government land by the  Phalguni riverside in Kuloor on 06.12.2021 with the co-operation of the Mangalore City Corporation and Forest Department. This was done to support the cause of making the city cleaner by avoiding clearing the construction and other debris dumped on government land, off the road leading to the venue of the River Festival in Kuloor. Commissioner Sri Akshy Sridhar, IAS  had permitted  KIOCL  for restoring the greenery and balance environmental pollution in the long run. The Deputy Conservator of Forest, Mangaluru Dr Dinesh Kumar YK, the  RFO Sri Prashanth Kumar Pai, Kuloor Corporator Sri Anil were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Dinesh Kumar YK, lauded the services of KIOCL in protecting the environment, later the Chairman-cum-Managing Director of KIOCL Sri.T.Saminathan appraised the KIOCL’s enviro-friendly projects, stating that “Apart from being a manufacturing sector, KIOCL always strives for keeping the environment clean, green and healthy while taking the initiative to preserve nature by planting saplings in all its locations and its neighbourhood areas. The plantation is a process which makes the environment healthier and is a sustainable process having great potential for many environmental benefits.”  The Senior officials of KIOCL were present during the occasion.
