‘Vanijya Saptah’, exporters’ conclave held in Mangaluru

Mangaluru: ‘Vanijya Saptah’, Exporters’ Conclave was held at Ocean Pearl Hotel here on Thursday September 23 at 3:30 pm.

Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. Rajendra K. V. inaugurated the event organised by the Department of Commerce and Industry and the District Industrial Organization as part of the 75th Azaadika Amrut Mahotsav.

Sateesha S. R., the Managing Director of Visvesvaraya Trade Promotion Centre (VTPC), Bengaluru presided over the event.

Imamuddin Ahmed, Commissioner of Customs, Mangaluru Yogish Nayak of MRPL Group General Division, and B. Yogesh Acharya, General Manager, Lead Bank were the guests of honour.

Joint Director of District Industries Centre Gokuldas Nayak welcomed. Entrepreneurs participated.

As many as 10 technical sessions were organised. The first session was about Export Scenario & Districts as Export Hubs by Satheesha S. R., MD, VTPC, Bengaluru. The second session was about Prospects of Seafood Exports by Premdev K. V., Deputy Director, Marine Products’ Export Development Authority (MPEDA), Mangaluru. Vicky Moolchandani, Regional Officer, Chemexcil, Bengaluru addressed the topic of Chemexcil and Chemicals Industry in the third session and Y. R. Belagal, Traffic Manager, NMPT, Mangaluru will speak on Infrastructure for Exports in the fourth session.

Session five aims to explain, ‘How to become an Exporter & Support’ was held by Doctorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) Dr. B Punnam Kumar ITS, Deputy DGFT, Bengaluru and Session 6 was about Focus on Products or Services identified from the district
IT  by Ashith Hegde, Managing Director, Arkieva Asia Pacific, Mangaluru, Cashews – Prakash Kalbavi, Past President, Karnataka Cashew Manufacturers’ Association and Founder Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Mangaluru.

Session 7 by Jayaram S Nayak, CPCFT, HO Anexx, Manipal was about Export Finance and session 8 by Jeevan Saldanha, Chairman, CII, Mangaluru was about Focus on Local Industries and Their Export Potential. The ninth session was about the Air Cargo delivered by M. Selvakumar, Manager, Air Cargo, Mangalore International Airport
and the last session was a panel discussion on the issues faced by exporters.

The panel discussion was moderated by Walter D’Souza, Past Chairman, Southern Region, Federation of Indian Export Organisations and Managing Partner, Fernandes Brothers, Mangaluru. VTPC, DGFT, NMPT, Customs, Air Cargo, MPEDA, and Canara Bank were in the panel.
