Beedu Heritage Villa has been a drop point for nature lovers since 2019. It is a homestay situated in the heart of a farm among the lush green tranquil ambiance in Perduru, Udupi. The place is designed to promote Tulu Nadu’s rich heritage, giving every visitor a taste of traditional culture and a pleasant stay to remember for the rest of their lives.

Chittaranjan Hegde, owner of Beedu Heritage Villa said, “Beedu Heritage is a homestay and a location where family can stay. That is what distinguishes us from the rest of the places. If you want to spend the day or stay the night, you can come here and have a great time.”

The place offers free parking spots, activities like volleyball and also a children’s playground.

Hegde explained that people love greenery, and living closer to nature. “Beedu Heritage Villa is located on a private property, so there is no disturbance here. We also have a river nearby that is 900 metres away from the homestay. People can also spend time beside the river as well.”

Beedu Heritage Villa was started by Chittaranjan Hegde and his son Prasidh. “When it comes to the structure of the homestay, we tried to portray the Tulu Nadu culture. We had an old house and we renovated it. The structure is modern with a blend of heritage. The pillars used are 100-year-old. I am very much fond of collecting artefacts. I collected the items from wherever I went, such as old lanterns, rice measuring utensils, and so on,” he added.

The homestay which was affected during the Covid-19 outbreak, however they have been doing well despite the obstacles.

When Beedu Heritage started its journey, 90 per cent of the people who visited were from Bengaluru, but after Covid, they began to get people from Mangaluru. “We started doing day outings, where people would arrive in the morning and leave in the evening. That has been extremely beneficial for us.”

People love to come back again and again and one of the facts is the home cooked cuisine made available at Beedu Heritage Villa. “People will only return if their stomachs are satisfied. We serve native food to people and do not try to copy other places that serve a wide range of food items. We don’t put as much focus on providing City food. Everyone who comes here enjoys our Neer dosa. People are drawn to the food rather than the place,” said Hegde.

He further stated that he gets to interact with new people and loves to listen to their stories, suggestions. “I think that is what I enjoy the most than the work,” he said.

“We didn’t start this as a business. We had a property and made use of it so that people can come and enjoy being here. Right now, there is a demand for swimming pool. But everything about the place is heritage type and swimming pool is something that is modern.  Perhaps, that will be the next step and probably we will add more rooms. If everything goes right, we will make a stay next to the river,” said Hegde.

He thanked all the guests as they have been great support throughout their journey.
