mohan_reddy“We are seriously engaging with the US government on the visa situation. The Obama administration has said that they will take a holistic view of the issue, which means that there are issues that are much larger than what we are seeking at this point in time,” Reddy said.

The IT industry body has also raised a number of representations regarding the challenges faced by Indian companies.

“We are not anticipating anything quickly to happen at this juncture but it will take some time,” he added. According to Reddy, the Indian IT industry will grow but the recruitment would remain fairly stable.

“Increased automation and shift in technology driven by customers’ demand for higher productivity will cause stability in recruitment. This year, around 2.3-2.5 lakh engineers will be recruited, which is almost similar to last year’s 2.3 lakh. Whereas revenues will grow at 12-14 per cent. For the next 2-3 years, revenues will keep growing but fresh intake will remain stable,” said Reddy, on the sidelines of Shri Dewang Mehta IT Awards 2015, organised by Gujarat Technological University along with Dewang Mehta Foundation Trust in Ahmedabad on Friday.

Commenting on IT start-ups, Reddy maintained that there was a need for more initiatives of this nature to come up because there is need for more number of start-ups.

“All of us will work towards promoting the start-up industry,” he said.

Nasscom is set to come out with a research that will highlight how the IT industry from India helped creating more jobs in the US.

“We have also got a report which is ready for launch on how the IT industry from India helped creating more amount of jobs in the US. That report will be launched sometime in September. We are doing our best in terms of talking to the US government on the visa as well as on the totalisation treaty,” he said.
