
Cameroon National Robbed in Bengaluru, Two Held with Cash and Passport
Two individuals were taken into custody by Kodigehalli police on Tuesday for allegedly mugging a man from Cameroon, who had come to Bengaluru for medical care. Authorities recovered ₹86,000 in cash, the victim’s passport, and critical medical documents during the arrest.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Rizwan Pasha (23), an autorickshaw driver, and Kruthik Preetham (24), an employee at a mobile shop.
According to police, the 35-year-old Cameroonian national had arrived in India on a medical visa to undergo treatment for prostate cancer. He was residing in Bhadrappa Layout on rent. The robbery occurred on the morning of April 27, when the victim was near a supermarket along the Outer Ring Road.
Reports indicate that two men on a scooter accosted him with a knife, threatening him for his belongings. Although the victim attempted to escape, he was overpowered and robbed of over ₹1.1 lakh, his passport, and vital documents linked to his treatment.
Based on CCTV evidence and investigation, police tracked the duo to a lodge near Govindapura Circle the following day. They were found in the company of women. Officers also located and seized the scooter used during the heist, which was parked near Manyata Tech Park.
The accused have since been remanded to judicial custody. Officials praised the swift coordination that led to the recovery of most stolen items.
