The unit of forensic Anthropology, Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Yenepoya Medical College Mangalore conducted a One-day National LevelWorkshop on “Exhumation and Identification of Human Bones in medico-legal settings” on March 4th 2021. More than 35 delegates from diverse medical disciplines like Forensic Medicine, Dentistry, Anatomy etc., participated in this hands-on training program.
The resource person Dr JS Sehrawat, a renowned Forensic Anthropologist from Panjab University, Chandigarh, enriched all the participants about the latest forensic anthropological and techniques. He shared his vast knowledge and experiences with special reference to exhumation and biological profiling of the Ajnala Skeletal remains to the participants. The participants were enthusiastic in the simulated exhumation process carried in the premises of the Yenepoya deemed to be University.
Dr Tania Delabarde from EAAF, Argentina also deliberated about the Importance of forensic anthropological investigations of unknown human remains in forensic death investigations. The participants with full enthusiasm excavated and developed the biological profile under the esteemed guidance and supervision of resource persons and faculty of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology (FMT). Prof VinaVaswani, Director Centre for Ethics and Professor of Forensic Medicine, Prof Kishor Kumar, Head of the department FMT, Dr LeenaPramod Coordinator Forensic Anthropology Program, Dr Nasir from Unit of Forensic Anthropology from Yenepoya Medical College were instrumental in organising first of its kind practice-oriented and interactive workshop.
