Mangaluru: Dr Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar was a statesman, economist, historian, moreover he was a great humanist, commented University First Grade College Principal Dr Dayananda Naik.
He spoke during the Dr B R Ambedkar’s Mahaparinirvan Diwas or 64th death anniversary at the Shivarama Karantha Sabhabhavana of the University College Mangaluru here on Sunday.
“Some may not agree with Ambedkar’s stance, but let’s weigh the differences within the country like in a family. The Constitution is protecting us. Let’s not hate the Constitution, but let’s amend, develop it with the time”, he added.
Mangalore University NSS Officer Dr Nagarathna K A opined that it is unfortunate to see Ambedkar being recognized as a leader of a particular community despite working for all sections of society. Principal Dr A Harisha welcomed the guests. Teaching and non-teaching members of the college conferred floral tribute to the departed soul.
