Mangaluru: “Students should come forward to create Organ Donation Awareness in public at large”, said Lal Goel, Chairman, Organ Donation India Foundation.

He was delivering the keynote address in a media workshop organised for the students of Alvas Journalism PG department at Pandit Health Resort & Spa, recently.

“Students are dynamic and are more technically equipped. They can reach awareness message to a large number of people faster through all media platforms including social media. There are more than five lakh people dying every year in India for want of organs. In the United Kingdom, it is less than a thousand people. This is an alarming situation more than coronavirus. Governments are not showing much interest to promote awareness about organ donation. Students should take this situation as a challenge and should highlight the positive news about Organ Donation”, he said.

Dr Kurian, Principal, Alva’s Degree College in his presidential address addressed the students and said that whenever they are reporting any sensitive issue it should be correct and the data should be verified. He hoped that such type of workshops will be very helpful for the students.

Dr Ganesh Aminagada, senior sub editor of Prajavani was the Chief Guest.

He explained the nitty-gritty in the editing of a newspaper.

N V Paulose, Chairman Global TV thanked the dignitaries and praised Goel for his zeal and efforts to create the organ donation awareness and appealed to the students that they should highlight and support such type of programmes.

The program was organized by Srinivasa Pejathaya, Head of the Dept of Journalism.

Srigouri S Joshi Asst Professor, Ravichandra, Technical Head,  Alvas Multi-Media and Reynold Sunny of News Karnataka were present among others.
