Webinar on Fit India Movement 2020 held at SAC

Mangaluru: A National Level Webinar on the theme Fit India Movement 2020 was organised by the NCC Army Wing of St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru on 14th September 2020 under the guidance of Col Manoj V U (Commanding Officer) and Lt Col Amith, Administrative Officer of 18 KAR BN NCC Mangalore Group.

The webinar was presided over by Rev Dr. Praveen Martis, SJ, Principal of St Aloysius College, (Autonomous), Mangaluru.

The Webinar was coordinated by Capt. Shakin Raj, Associate NCC Officer, NCC Army Wing of St Aloysius College, Mangaluru.

The Webinar focusing on the meaning, relevance, and significance of the Fit India Movement and why is the need of the Fit India Movement. It also covered various topics such as physical fitness and components of health-related and skill-related physical fitness. The Webinar highlighted various activities and their health benefits for cardiovascular endurance, muscle endurance, muscle strength, and flexibility. There were also other topics that were covered like safety precautions to be taken while performing gym exercise.

Besides, it is informed the participants on what is physical activity, how much physical activity is recommended for adolescents (15-17 years) and adults (18-40 years), the benefits of physical activities, consequences of the lack of physical activities, etc. The Webinar covered issues regarding the mental and emotional benefits of physical exercise, social benefits, and factors affecting fitness. The Webinar also highlighted government initiatives for the promotion of the Fit India Movement.

183 Cadets from various institutions of Mangalore participated in this National Level Webinar. At the end of the Webinar, everyone took the pledge to maintain physical fitness.
