Yenepoya NSS Unit highlights COVID19 precautions and distributes groceries

Mangaluru: NSS Programme coordinator, officers, and volunteers of Yenepoya University have not been deterred by the lockdown and they are doing their service to the nation by spreading awareness among the public and students on COVID 19 via video and posters and online training programs. Following online training to 1200 NSS volunteers of Yenepoya University has been successfully completed by providing information on the origin, spread, and preventive measures as well as the importance of using the Arogya Sethu application. Dr. M Vijayakumar Vice Chancellor inaugurated the program and highlighted the preventive measures to be taken during this pandemic.

Dr. Gannath Yekkar, State officers NSS Govt of Karnataka addressed NSS volunteers through the online Google meeting. Dr. C.V Raghuveer Pro Vice-Chancellors, Dr. B.H Sripathi Rao, Pro Vice-Chancellors, Dr. Vina Vaswani Director, Centre for Ethics, Dr. Prabha Adhikari, Deans and Associate Deans of all the constituent colleges addressed the students by their valuable message on COVID 19, NSS Unit also acknowledges Dr. Kalpana Gopaln IAS Additional Chief Secretory Youth empowerment and sports GOK, Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi Chancellor Mr. Farhaad Yenepoya Pro chancellor, Dr. Gangadhar Somayaji Registrar, Regional director Khadri Narasimha Govt of India, Dr. Poornima Jogi State NSS Implementation officer GOK, Uppin Youth officer Govt of India and UNICEF team for their support and encouragement to organize this program from April 1st, 2020.

The coordinator and program officers were given the responsibility to train all the NSS volunteers apart from this Dr. Akshay and Dr. Pracheth program officers also served in quarantine centers as medical doctors who were giving service to the people. Dr. Ashwini Shetty Programme Coordinator has also been invited as a resource person to various colleges of Mysore University and Mangalore University for an online webinar to talk on preventive measures of COVID 19 and also on a topic Women’s health and wellness program and stress management during COVID 19 lockdown period. NSS Unit personnel have also trained on a state-level program on Stress Management during COVID 19 lockdown period and legal awareness on COVID19.


Posters created by students to spread awareness on COVID 19

While students of Pharmacy, allied health science, MBBS and Degree college, Ayurveda, Dental Colleges have created posters and short film on COVID-19 under the guidance of Mr. Mohammed Asif, Dr. Imran, Dr. Jnanesh, Mrs. Savitha Kamath, Mrs. Shalini Sequiera, Mr. Niyaz, and Dr. Shemjaz and Renita Priya.

 NSS unit distributes 400kg rice and 60 packs of groceries to 60 families

Program coordinator and Programme officers of the university donated 400kg rice and other food items groceries to the 60 poor families at Kanna Gudde and housekeeping staff as well to the Antony garbage carriers. We also acknowledge Mrs. Suchetha and her family for contributing and giving helping hand in this crisis of COVID 19.
