Captain Brijesh Chowta charts Indo-Israel tech alliance to boost DK’s agri future
In a strategic diplomatic move, Dakshina Kannada MP Captain Brijesh Chowta met with Ambassador Reuven Azar, Israel’s envoy to India, to explore expanding cooperation in agriculture, aquaculture, education, and water management.
Captain Chowta presented Dakshina Kannada’s agricultural prowess—particularly in areca nut, cashew, coconut, and rubber exports—supported by a strong network of cooperative societies. Emphasizing the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, he proposed channeling Israeli agri-tech expertise into the district’s farming and startup ecosystems to drive innovation and economic sustainability.
The MP proposed visits by Israeli agri-tech companies for direct engagement with local farmers and called for introducing AI-powered tools, drones, robotics, and smart irrigation models inspired by Israel’s world-renowned water strategies. He also highlighted coffee cultivation as an emerging export crop suitable for local conditions, seeking Israeli insights for its development.
Ambassador Azar welcomed the proposal and expressed Israel’s readiness to collaborate in sectors that align with its tech-driven agricultural mission. Both parties recognized the potential of this collaboration to create a model of rural innovation that could be scaled across India.
Captain Chowta committed full district and state-level institutional support to facilitate Israeli delegations and long-term cooperation. The initiative marks a forward-thinking effort to empower Indian farmers with global innovations, strengthening grassroots ties between India and Israel.
