
Car Engulfed in Flames Near Suratkal Flyover, No Injuries Reported
Mangaluru: A shocking incident unfolded on Wednesday when a car was suddenly consumed by fire on the service lane adjoining the flyover close to the Suratkal junction.
The vehicle, driven by a resident of Udupi named Usha, was en route to Mangaluru when the accident occurred. As the car moved along the service road, the driver observed smoke emerging from the dashboard area. Acting swiftly, they exited the vehicle immediately, managing to escape without any harm.
The fire spread rapidly, and within moments, the entire car was reduced to a charred frame. Eyewitnesses nearby were alarmed by the sudden blaze and alerted emergency services. Firefighters responded quickly to the distress call and arrived at the scene to contain the situation.
Despite their prompt action, the car was completely destroyed by the time the flames were brought under control. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
Authorities from the Suratkal police station have initiated a case and are investigating the cause of the fire. Preliminary findings suggest an electrical malfunction, but a detailed report is awaited.
Traffic on the flyover and adjoining roads was briefly disrupted as fire tenders and police secured the area. Passersby gathered at the scene, capturing the dramatic visuals of the burning vehicle on their mobile phones.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of vehicle maintenance and quick thinking in emergencies.
