CCTV captures Zepto delivery agent assaulting customer in Bengaluru
A Zepto delivery executive allegedly attacked a customer after an argument over an address mix-up in Bengaluru’s Basaveshwaranagar on May 21. The entire incident was recorded on CCTV.
The delivery agent, identified as Vishnuvardhan, allegedly began yelling at the customer’s sister-in-law, blaming her for giving an incorrect address. When Shashank, the customer, stepped in to question the delivery man’s aggressive tone, he was verbally abused and then physically assaulted.
CCTV footage revealed the delivery agent repeatedly punching Shashank while two women tried to stop him.
Shashank later said, “My wife had placed the order. When the items arrived, my sister-in-law went to collect them. Suddenly, the delivery boy began shouting, claiming we had entered the wrong address. When I asked him to calm down, he started hitting me.”
He sustained serious facial injuries. “I underwent a CT scan. Doctors say the bone under my eye is fractured. If it doesn’t heal in a week, I may need surgery,” he added.
Shashank filed a police complaint and released the video to raise awareness. “I want people to know what happened to me so that no one else suffers like this. That’s why I shared the video,” he said.
Basaveshwaranagar police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, Sections 115(2), 126(2), 351(2), and 352. Authorities have issued a notice to Zepto for details about the accused. The investigation is ongoing.
