Chamraj Nagar: The Tamil Nadu government has ordered closing down of the famous Bannaari Mariamma temple on the border of Karnataka – Tamil Nadu.
With the surge in covid cases in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, new restrictions have come into place. Accordingly, places of worship, such as temples, churches and mosques, are declared not open to devotees.
In the wake of this, it is now ordered that devotees are forbidden to worship at the famous Bannaari Mariamma temple in the dense forest near Satyamangalam in Erode district from Monday April 26. The entrance of the temple has been closed and a banner was posted on the orders of the Tamil Nadu stating that government forbades the worship by the devotees.
According to the rule of the temple, the four-time worship of the Goddess is performed in the temple as per Aagama Shastra, the devotees are not allowed to have the Diety’s darshan. Hence, the temple complex remains deserted with shops surrounding the temple premises being closed.
