Chamarajanagar: A couple from Gundlupet in Chamarajanagar got married in a simple way and donated the savings out of grand marriage to the Corona relief works.
Manju, a resident of Kadabur in Gundlupet taluk married Madalambike, a resident of the same village on Sunday. They opted for a simple marriage at the village in the presence of only a few family members.
Due to the simple wedding, the couple saved about Rs 3 lakhs. Out of this total savings, they donated Rs one lakh towards CM’s relief fund for COVID related works and Rs 2 lakhs for the construction of the local temple.
According to the authorities, in last few days, many families are opting for simple marriages.
“Many families are donating the savings to the CM relief fund, which is a positive development,” said an officer from the district administration.
