Gundlupete: The Gundlupete farmers who had migrated to Kerala and other places in search of work following several years of severe drought in the taluk are returning after the region received some good rain.

Many farmers of the area had sold their cattle as they were not able to provide them food and water during the drought season.

The farm labourers have also returned to their respective villages after the rains, hoping to get work in their own village.

Farmers have now started cultivation on their land and are planting jowar, sunflower, cotton and other crops.

The farmers have started forming long queues in front of the ‘Raitha Samparka Kendra’ for seeds and fertilizers even before the centre opens for the day.

The agriculture department is supplying the necessary seeds and fertilizers to the farmers at discounted prices along with the necessary inputs for them.
